Positive Links & Things - February 2011
Much of the news we read is sad/depressing/upsetting etc. We've created this strand of the blog to collect links to more positive news stories, events, resources or just positive comments - each month a new copy of this page will be posted (old content won't be deleted though).
Update 19.02.2011 - we've expanded the scope of this page to include either links, or a positive thing you've done that might inspire others and encourage a generally optimistic outlook on life.

Comments etc:
Quote: "You'll never get to where you're going if you only travel on the sunny days..." [seen on a fridge magnet] comment from Dom.
Activity: Organised the first 'official' event of 2011 for The Optimists Society (Bristol) - brightened up the week for us, and brought smiles to the faces of other people in the bar. It's amazing what impact simply wearing an origami hat randomly in a bar can achieve - if you've got an idea for an event that will bring a smile to peoples faces or help someone out, I say go for it! :) comment from Dom

Day of Optimism on the Optimists Society 3rd Birthday
The Optimists Society will be 3 on Thursday 17th February 2011!
To celebrate that, and to help kickstart the Bristol Branch of the society, let's make it an extra-optimistic day...
All very relaxed, chilled and informal as we build the local Bristol presence (and once it's built, still all of those things, but hopefully with more people!)
The aim is to have a generally optimistic day, and we'll be meeting up in town for drinks at 7:30pm in central Bristol - details/signup on our Facebook Group. Come along if you fancy a friendly drink, optionally some of us will be wearing hats and making origami animals (more info via our Facebook Group).
If you're not joining us in person, we hope you have an optimistic day generally. Why not pledge to be an Optimist (see 'About Us'). Any thoughts you have on how we can make things a little more optimistic can be posted to the Facebook Group, or leave a comment below :)
